Choosing a Preschool for your child can feel like a huge step! At Finches, we want you to know that your children's happiness and welfare is always our top priority.
Our philosophy is to help all children feel settled and a part of the Finches family. We believe this is essential to allow them to develop their confidence, and in turn, a positive self image for them to take through life. We have the privilege of spending some of those all important formative years with the children, so we want to make the most of them by learning together in a nurturing environment, following our motto - "We have fun!".

Preschool can be the first experience your child will have of care outside the home and/or immediate family.

We want your child to feel loved, welcome and secure in our care. One of the many ways in which we do this is to assign a key person to your child. This will be your primary daily contact throughout your child's time with us.

ACTIVITIES

We believe in giving the children choice in their activities. To do this, we plan the environment based on the children's current likes and interests. This allows us to provide opportunities for learning that we hope they will enjoy.

We love to spend time outdoors here at Finches. We are very lucky with the grounds of our setting. Having woodland, a park and a huge field right outside provides us with endless opportunities for learning, whatever the weather!

Twice a year we stage our very own Finches productions. At Christmas, we put on a traditional Nativity Play and at Easter time we get creative and pen our very own script. We end the summer term with a fundraising Sport's Day/Summer lunch, where parents, carers and grandparents are invited to join in the fun.

Our planning, observing and recording of children's successes and progress is maintained following the guidance from Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage. As part of this, we will keep information on your child's progress in an interactive online learning resource where parents and teachers are able to access the learning journey throughout the sessions. Its great to see the children and what they get up to at preschool and leave comments for your child's key person to read.

When your child leaves us, this folder is yours to take home and keep as a record of their learning and achievements in their time with us.
